Richard G. Guinand, DO

Board Certified Orthopaedic Spine Specialist ACOFP

As a non-surgical spine specialist at SMOC, Dr. Richard Guinand offers initial diagnosis and treatment of general orthopaedic injuries, acute and chronic back pain, workman’s compensation injuries, and non-surgical management of spinal pathology.

After a 13-year career training bottle-nosed dolphins, Dr. Guinand embarked on a cross country journey which eventually brought him to SMOC. His trek included graduating in the top five percent of his class from medical school, working 15 years as a Board Certified Family Practice doctor specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine, and serving five of those years as a physician for SEAL teams at Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek, VA.

Throughout his career Dr. Guinand has worked towards new and better methods to improve the health and well-being of his patients. He is committed to getting people healthy in the quickest, most cost effective methods available without the use of surgery. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Guinand loves surfing, snowboarding and offers his expertise with youth and college baseball, soccer and other sports.
