Board Certified Orthopaedic Spine Specialist ACOFP
As a non-surgical spine specialist at SMOC, Dr. Richard Guinand offers initial diagnosis and treatment of general orthopaedic injuries, acute and chronic back pain, workman’s compensation injuries, and non-surgical management of spinal pathology.
After a 13-year career training bottle-nosed dolphins, Dr. Guinand embarked on a cross country journey which eventually brought him to SMOC. Throughout his career Dr. Guinand has worked towards new and better methods to improve the health and well-being of his patients. He is committed to getting people healthy in the quickest, most cost effective methods available without the use of surgery. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Guinand loves surfing, snowboarding and offers his expertise with youth and college baseball, soccer and other sports.

Dr. Guinand is interested to see if stem cell research will lead to disc regeneration or improvement in arthritic joints. We are a long way before that happens, but even “baby steps” is still forward progress.
