Press Release: (SMOC) Welcomes Dr. Henick to Suffolk Office
Air force veteran offers non-surgical and non-medicated solutions to pain management at growing practice
Suffolk, Virginia September 4, 2018 — Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center (SMOC), a leading orthopaedic center in Hampton Roads, today announced James H. Henick, MD, will join the practice. Specializing in Interventional Pain Management, Dr. Henick will also be bringing his expertise as a retired Air Force Colonel and former flight anesthesiologist to the growing SMOC care team.
Since the late 1990’s opioid abuse, addiction, and overdoses have increased at astonishing rates. In response to the public health crisis, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have focused their efforts on promoting safe, effective, and non-addictive means of relieving chronic pain. Interventional Pain Physicians can offer non-medication pain management options for their patients.
“We are excited to have Dr. Henick join the team of physicians at SMOC. His skills in interventional pain will help us advance in continuing in the treatment and management of pain,” said Todd Rauchenberger, Administrator at SMOC.
Dr. Henick spent the latter part of his military career serving as Chief Anesthesiologist and Commander, Anesthesia Flight. From there, he completed a Fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Virginia and began his career as an Interventional Pain Physician, working in several community hospital settings throughout Maryland and Virginia.
“It is my role to help patients return to the best version of themselves. No one needs to live with chronic pain. I can help minimize your discomfort and the need for medication. I employ only safe, efficient, and effective practices to optimize your lifestyle. Live your best life.”
