Chesapeake, Virginia September 24, 2018 — Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center (SMOC), a leading orthopaedic center in Hampton Roads, today announced Catherine Rapp, MD, will join the practice. A board certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Rapp brings years of military and civilian experience in treating traumatic, athletic, and general overuse injuries in patients of all ages.
She focuses on shoulder and elbow ailments due to all causes, sports injuries of the knee, and general fracture care. Injury patterns vary among the age spectrum with a wide variety of available treatment options, including surgical and non-surgical, that are best chosen through individual consultation. Her experience will allow SMOC to expand on its orthopaedic offerings through the treatment of shoulder and elbow instability, shoulder and elbow reconstruction for arthritic and traumatic causes, rotator cuff repair/reconstruction, and ligament/cartilage reconstruction of the knee.
“We are very excited to have Dr. Rapp join the physician team. Her expertise in Sports Medicine and shoulder & elbow orthopaedics keeps the tradition of physician focused orthopaedic care. This is what differentiates SMOC from all other orthopaedic groups”, said Todd Rauchenberger, Administrator at SMOC.
Dr. Rapp served in the U.S. Navy as a general orthopaedic surgeon prior to completing fellowship in complex reconstruction of the shoulder and elbow. While continuing to provide patient care, she earned her MBA in Healthcare from George Washington University in an effort to maximize patient-centered and value-based healthcare in her practice.
